Alireza Borhani was born in Tehran in 1985. In 2014, he received the PhD  in telecommunications engineering from the University of Agder in Norway and a master’s degree in the same field from the University of Shahed in Iran in 2010. His PhD dissertation was on modelling and analysis of non-stationary mobile fading channels using Brownian random trajectory models.
In 2013, he worked as a guest researcher at the Wireless Systems Lab at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA. He also received the B.E. in Electrical Engineering-Biomedical Systems from the Science and Research Branch of the Islamic Azad University in Tehran, Iran.

He is now an postdoctoral researcer in the Mobile Communications Group at the University of Agder, Grimstad, Norway. He is mainly involved in the development of research project proposals. He has also some teaching and supervision duties in the ICT department of the same university.

His current research interests include mobile radio communications, especially multipath fading channel modelling under non-stationary conditions, vehicle-to-vehicle communications, automotive radar, wireless networks, MIMO broadcasting systems, and information theory. He has published numerous journal and conference papers, some of which were awarded, as well as a book chapter on the topics above. He has been actively participating in different international events serving as a TPC member for IEEE conferences, such as VTC, PIMRC, ICC, and WCNC. As a reviewer, he has been serving for distinguished journals, such as IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, and AEÜ-International Journal of Electronics and Communications.  In 2015, he received the Outstanding Reviewer Award from the Computer Communications-Elsevier Journal.
